This dramatic, 14K yellow gold Jerusalem cross is fashioned with one large, central cross, each arm detailed with an open cross and edged with a milgrain design. Four, smaller, high-polished crosses surround the center, in which rests a "widow's mite," a genuine excavated coin, in use in first century Palestine. This cross is a reminder to those who wear it to imitate the widow, giving themselves to Christ, just as the widow gave all she had, her two mites (Luke 21: 1-4). The Jerusalem Cross, referred to as the "Crusaders' Cross" during the Crusades, was the symbol of the Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem. The central "Crusaders' Cross" represents the person of Christ; the four smaller crosses are said to symbolize the four evangelists (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John), and the directions in which the word of God spread from Jerusalem.
