This sterling silver pendant features a matte-finished silver Celtic cross adorned with a polished silver border. Available in two sizes, this cross comes with a sterling silver chain and is packaged in a blue velvet gift box. You may order a longer continuous chain for an additional cost.
The earliest forms of the Celtic cross are found in the British Isles, dating from the seventh to ninth centuries, carved into large rock slabs that lay on the ground. Some suggest that the Celtic cross evolved from the "Chi-Rho" symbol of Christianity, the first two letters of "Christ" in Greek, popularized by Constantine the Great, who in the 4th century ended the persecution of Christians and made Christianity the state religion of the Roman Empire.
